Random thoughts

Recently I bought a whole mess of stuff for making music. I am excited at the possibilities and this will be my place to let you know about any music I release. Specifically, the Cubricon Manifesto is a name under which I will make electronic music.

Here is my current gear:

Power Macintosh G4 533 w/OS X 10.3.6
M-Audio FireWire 410
(2)M-Audio BX-5 Monitor Speakers
Korg X-2 Synthesizer (this thing is old and messed up)
Rode NT-1000
Propellerheads Reason 2.5
Ableton Live 4.0

I love using Reason. I am not quite used to Live, but It's growing on me. The Fire-Wire interface could use better documentation -at first I thought I had a defective unit because the power indicator LED blinks when the unit is turned off and plugged in. A simple user guide would be beneficial. Other than that, the 410 works fine. The speakers are awesome. The Mic is amazing for the price.

My X-2 is what I use for MIDI. A few keys are semi or non-functional. It works for now. I may get a controller eventually but I think I'll upgrade my computer first.

I am amazed that my G4 is able to run the software and keep up with all sorts of effects and audio tracks in two programs. I have enough computer power to last through my initial 'getting used to the software' phase of this hobby. That is a tribute to the software developers (Ableton and Propellerheads) because I have tried using Apple's GarageBand and it chokes my computer once I use up 4 tracks (MIDI or Audio).

Reason 3.0 will be coming out withing the next year and when it does, I plan to upgrade my computer. (by then, the dual G5's should be reasonably priced on eBay right? :)

If you are reading this, I must wonder why? I am not famous and I am not trying to push this onto anybody by sending them mass emails. I think my friends would be annoyed because most of them don't necessarily like electronic music. Mass emails annoy me, so I won't send my friends every little thing I do in my life. If they want, they can ask me, and I'll point them in this direction.

As far as music goes, my goal is to make great music -music that is beautiful and glorifies God.

I am a Christian, and I'm tired of all the 'Christian' music out there that is just plain bad. I don't argue with people when they say "Christian music is lame". Many times, that statement is true. Don't get me wrong, there are Christian artists that I really like, but many of them sound like wannabes. The only 'person' I want to be like is God, the creator of heaven and earth. The one responsible for placing music in the heart of humanity.

My desire is to be creative and use the talents that God gave me for good and not evil. I hope to be original, different, not conformed to today's perception of what 'music' is or isn't.

Besides creating my own music, I hope to enlighten you to other artists that have inspired me throughout my life. Christian or not, if they make great music and they inspire me, I'll let you know.

Most of my songs will be trance or other forms of electronic music. Once in a while, I might make a song that is meant to make you laugh, like Spike's Chihuahua Song.
When will I post my first Trance song as an .mp3? Who knows, when it sounds perfect to me I guess.

Peace,
-Tony
